Science Foundation Arizona (SFAz) Graduate Research Fellowships will be offered to attract and support the very best graduate students to qualifying research performing institutions in order to advance the competitive research capacity in science, engineering and biomedical research in Arizona. In so doing, SFAz contributes to increasing the number and quality of Arizona’s future scientists and engineers. All SFAz fellows will pursue their Ph.D. education in Arizona.
In the 2008 competition, SFAz will award up to 100 Graduate Research Fellowships to students pursuing Ph.D. degrees (or M.S. degrees in engineering), each providing one (1) year of initial support with anticipation of one (1) additional year of funding commensurate upon outstanding progress of the graduate student and availability of funding. The goal is to make SFAz Fellowships a prestigious award for students of exceptional potential. SFAz awarded 80 Fellowships in 2007.
