
Carole R. Baskin, DVM, MS
Scientific Program Officer
Dr. Baskin is a specialist in comparative medicine and her post-doctoral training focused on infectious diseases and functional genomics. This work culminated in her receiving an NIAID career award among others for her non-human primate modeling of highly pathogenic influenza infections. Besides these areas, her special interests include compliance, biosafety, and public health issues.
Prior to joining Science Foundation Arizona, she served as faculty member at Arizona State University and still holds an adjunct faculty appointment at the University of Washington in the Department of Comparative Medicine.
Dr. Baskin received her veterinary degree from North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine, attended graduate school at The Ohio State University, and received her residency training at the University of Washington. Her post-doctoral fellowship was done in association with the Michael G. Katze laboratory, in the department of Microbiology, at the University of Washington School of Medicine.
